What Is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy or The Bowen Technique, as it is also known, is a non-invasive holistic therapy pioneered by Thomas Bowen who developed the method in Australia after the second world war.
By the middle of the 1970's, it is reported, he was treating some 13,000 people in a year.

The therapy consists of a series of rolling moves, usually with the thumbs, applying light pressure, over muscle and connective tissue.
Touch is used in a very different way to other forms of hands-on therapy like massage and is only applied at precise points on the body. The treatment can be done through light clothing.

Bowen Therapy promotes healing, pain relief and recovery of energy using very light touch.

Bowen ‘moves’ do not seem like much, but they do bring about profound change. They are delicate, gentle, precise and are safe to use on people of all ages.
